Hello! 

 

My name is Shanthi, creator and founder of CRAFTYKAI; I am excited to share with you a little bit about myself and the inspiration behind my work!

 

I was born in Chennai, India and worked for a while as a Software Engineer in Singapore and in the UK. I later moved to America with my husband and young children, where my love for crafting and creating really started to blossom. As a mother of four, I took my children to many after-school activities, during which there was a lot of down time. In order to keep busy, I started picking up different crafts to work on which has now turned into a business that I absolutely love! Some skills that I have developed along the way include card-making, beading, crocheting, basket weaving, and even stained glass. I taught myself how to sew and made dresses for my girls which they loved wearing. 

 

 It is so rewarding for me to see a piece of work come together from its individual elements to the finished product, and I hope that through CRAFTYKAI, I can share my joy of crafting with others through the items I create.

 

The name CRAFTYKAI brings in the word “KAI”, meaning “hand”, from the Tamil language, which I grew up speaking. Every item I make is unique and made with love and care for your enjoyment. 10% of all net sales is donated to a non-profit organization quarterly.
